Servicing

With both the PFC and AHF it is recommended by the manufacturer that servicing is carried out at least annually to ensure optimum performance and potentially avoid costly repairs.

Power Factor Correction

The service for PFC requires all component to be inspected for security, all fuses checked for continuity, contactors are freely operating, fans are performing as expected, capacitors are checked for capacitance levels and that the discharge of voltage is within manufacturers recommendations. All connections are checked for security and cables and wiring checked for any excessive heat areas. Cooling fans to be checked for operation and clean. Excessive dust/dirt to be removed where possible.

Additionally the unit is checked to be working as designed and reaching the desired power factor level.

The results are recorded and noted in a report which is then sent to the contact on site, highlighting any problems and remedial works required, with full quotation, to be carried out to ensure full operation and to maintain efficiency.

Active Harmonic Filters

To carry out a service of AHF’s software is required to delve into the units full operation.

All capacitors are checked for capacitance levels and discharge as per manufacturers recommendations, all connections checked for security, cables and wiring checked for any excessive heat areas, all fuses checked for continuity, cooling fans are operational and clean. Excessive dust/dirt to be removed where possible.

Following the above the unit will be monitored via the software whilst running to gather information on the set up and running of the AHF. Information is downloaded whilst running and not running to clearly show the difference in the harmonic levels and voltage and current sinewaves difference to confirm the effective operation of the AHF.

This downloaded information will then be put into a report for the client showing the operation and effect the AHF has on the electrical system highlighting any problems and remedial works required, with full quotation, to be carried out to ensure full operation and to maintain efficiency.

With AHFs certain components are required to be replaced on a regular basis, usually every 4 – 8 years, dependant on type of filter and atmospheric conditions such as ambient temperature, air quality, humidity etc.
